Kiehl's Focus Group

Last week I filmed for a group of third year Fashion Communication Students; the point was to create coverage of the focus group of males looking at male grooming. The main focus was on the brand "Kiehl's" to see what the men already knew about the brand, and then what their initial reactions to the brand was and then further on about what they use in their morning routines for each of their distinguished looks.

Here are some behind the scenes shots from the day:

Kiehl's sign and various men's products.

Boom mic positioning

Initial set up of the still camera

The "Big Brother" interview chair

The men have arrived

The Canon 7D and the Canon 60D which I used to shoot on.
The day did not go well, I had several camera/microphone malfunctions, which was not great when you have to shout in the middle of the focus group that you need them to stop. Next time I will definitely get my camera's/equipment thoroughly checked before I attend a shoot. Overall though I did get some good footage of the guys, and the editing process went really well (with so little to actually work on!) The girls seemed to enjoy the final product, so that is always a bonus too.

Due to the footage being used in an international competition in a couple of months time the video cannot be released until January time, so until then you may have to settle for a few of the stills.
